Our Story

The Indianapolis R/C Modelers was founded in 1953 for the sole purpose of supporting and advancing the hobby of Radio Control Aircraft building and flying.

For the past several years, we have enjoyed our present location at the Blue River Air Park, which is located a mile west of Morristown, Indiana on Blue River Road, 1/2 mile south of the intersection of US Route #52 and Blue River Road. We have a very active program to help the beginner learn to fly in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. We have several instructors in the club, and have set aside Wednesday nights to give priority to student flyers. Our members fly aircraft of all types. You will see everything from micro aircraft weighing 1-2 ounces, basic trainers, sport aircraft, scale models of World War I and World War II aircraft, giant scale aircraft with wingspans of 10 feet or more and even an occasional turbine powered craft or two! We welcome aircraft of all types whether fixed wing or rotary wing such as helicopters and multi-rotors.

Everyone in the club has a passion for RC Aviation, but the club is as much social as it is for flying and we often have cookouts and the occasional camper at the field.
